Responsible Copy Trading

The controls that keep copy trading inside limits you chose: hard budget caps, exposure limits, instant pause, and the habits that keep trading a choice.

Last updated August 21, 2026

Copy trading on Polycopy is built so that you set the limits and the system enforces them. A bot can never spend beyond the budget you gave it, and you can stop everything in one click. This page covers the controls you hold and the habits that keep them working for you.

Hard limits you set

These are not suggestions the system tries to follow. They are caps it cannot cross.

The budget is a hard cap

A bot trades only with the capital you assigned it. It cannot borrow, top itself up, or spend a dollar beyond that budget. Your worst case is bounded by a number you typed.

Managed presets cap exposure

Bots on managed presets keep open positions to at most 50% of the budget, so the bot is never all-in at once. They also stop trading after heavy realised losses instead of pressing on.

Pause is instant

You can pause any bot, or all of them, at any moment. A paused bot places no new trades. Your existing positions stay yours to manage.

Start small

The $50 minimum bot budget is deliberate. It is enough to see how a bot behaves with real stakes and small enough that the lesson is cheap. Watch a bot trade for a while before you decide it deserves more capital. There is no reward for funding a stranger's strategy heavily on day one.

Watch your own behavior

Never copy with money you cannot afford to lose. Prediction markets resolve to $1.00 or $0, so a position can go to zero, and no trader, score, or setting changes that.

Watch for chasing losses. Raising budgets or copying more aggressively to win back a drawdown is the pattern that turns a bad week into a bad month. If you notice it, pause your bots and step away. Everything will still be there when you come back.
