How the Polymarket Leaderboard Works
What gets measured
The leaderboard tracks every resolved trade on Polymarket. When a market closes, the profit or loss from that position is recorded. This gives an objective, verifiable measure of trading skill — not just position size or number of trades.
P&L (Profit & Loss)
Total dollars gained or lost. The most straightforward measure. A trader with +$50K P&L has made $50,000 in net profit from resolved positions.
ROI (Return on Investment)
Profit relative to capital deployed. A 20% ROI means $20 profit per $100 invested. Better for comparing efficiency, but can be misleading on small volumes.
Volume
Total dollars traded. High volume with positive P&L signals a consistently profitable trader, not just someone who got lucky once on a small bet.
Which metric should you prioritize?
No single metric tells the full story. A trader with $1M P&L but -5% ROI is making money on volume, not edge. A trader with 200% ROI on $50 volume got lucky. The best traders combine strong P&L, solid ROI, and meaningful volume over extended time periods.
We recommend looking at 30-day P&L as a starting point, then checking ROI and volume to validate. Use the time period filters above to see if performance is consistent across different windows.
Category specialists vs. generalists
Some traders dominate a single category — you'll find sports experts who lose money on politics, and crypto specialists who avoid weather entirely. Use the category filters to find traders who excel in the areas you care about. A trader ranked #200 overall might be #1 in Weather or Tech.

ExploreHow to Use the Leaderboard
1. Find traders in your areas of interest
Use the category filters to narrow down to Sports, Politics, Crypto, or whatever you know best. A trader who's #5 in Weather might have more relevant insight for you than the #1 overall trader who trades everything.
2. Check consistency across time periods
A trader who's top 10 in both the 7-day and 30-day views is consistently performing well, not just having a lucky week. Toggle between time periods to spot truly consistent performers.
3. Follow and learn before copying
On Polycopy, you can follow any trader for free and see their trades in your feed. Watch their patterns for a while — what markets they enter, when they buy, when they sell. Then decide which trades align with your own thinking.
4. Don't blindly copy
Even the best traders lose. The leaderboard shows who's winning now, but past performance doesn't guarantee future results. Use the leaderboard as a starting point for research, not a substitute for your own judgment.
