I Use a Polymarket Deposit Wallet

Polymarket deposit wallets work with Polycopy. What the "maker address not allowed" error means and how reconnecting the right signer in Settings fixes it.

Last updated August 21, 2026

Deposit wallets work with Polycopy. You can copy trades and run Auto Copy bots from a Polymarket deposit wallet like any other account. The one requirement is that the key Polycopy signs with belongs to the wallet that actually holds your funds.

What a deposit wallet is

A deposit wallet is Polymarket's built-in wallet, created when you sign up with an email and fund your account directly. It sits alongside accounts people connect with their own crypto wallet. Polycopy supports both kinds. The setup is identical, and so is the trading.

The "maker address not allowed" error

If you see "maker address not allowed, please use the deposit wallet flow", the key connected to Polycopy is not linked to the wallet holding your funds. It is a mismatch between the signer and the funded account, not a problem with your funds. Orders are refused, not misdirected, so nothing has moved anywhere. The error can show up on your first trade or after you change accounts on Polymarket.

Your funds never pass through Polycopy in either setup. Trades settle in your own Polymarket account, and reconnecting the signer moves nothing.

How to fix the mismatch

1

Reconnect from Settings

Open Settings, disconnect the wallet, and reconnect it. Make sure the key you import belongs to the account whose funds you want to trade with.

2

Confirm the address matches

After reconnecting, compare the trading wallet address in Settings with the one shown on polymarket.com/portfolio. They match when the link is right.
